The Birmingham based Andel Plastics people are moulding a bright new future not only for themselves, but also for the engineers of the future, the medical profession and for UK manufacturing.
Andel Plastics work across a wide range of industries that includes plumbing, automotive, electronics and gas and water flow metering, while its specialties include designing and manufacturing tooling and components for metal replacement products. Some of its solutions have since gone on to result in patents.
Together with Blink Medical, Andel Plastics is producing a plastic device used in eye surgery and will, says Helen whom heads up the company, being lighter, safer, and more cost effective to manufacture, bring considerable savings for the NHS and health organisations worldwide.
The very process of installing the Cleanroom, helped by funding from the Business Innovation Fund, lead to the company’s success in winning this year’s made in the Midlands Manufacturing Achievement Award.
Andel Plastics has also been busy expanding the tool room capability from a turnover of £80K per year to £400K per year and invested over £200K in new equipment.
