Manchester and Leeds based Northcoders – the coding bootcamp for the North – has hit a major milestone in its history after its 500th graduate completed its Developer Pathway course.
The Developer Pathway is a unique teaching innovation that promotes a fundamentally different, bespoke and compassionate way of learning to code. It is uniquely personal and ensures that student software developers graduate with the skills to find work that have been learned at a pace that’s right for them.
The graduation ceremony, which took place at Northcoders’ Federation House campus, saw 14students present their projects in groups to their peers and invited guests from the North West business community. The projects were a culmination of all that they had learned and were a chance for them to explore new tech.
The 500th graduate was Paulina Orawczak, who was working as a sales administrator before deciding to kick-start her career in tech through Northcoders.
Since its inaugural course four years ago, Northcoders has helped people switch career into tech on average starting salaries of £25,000.
Over the past year, it was selected as one of the country's brightest tech stars in Creative England's CE50 list and was named Business of the Year at the 15th Annual Chamber Business Awards. It has launched scholarship schemes and a deferred payment programme aimed at women and gender minorities, as well as those who identify as BAME or LGBTQ+, have a disability or have had limited access to education, to help address diversity in tech. Whilst last month, the firm was appointed by leading holiday company On the Beach to be its academy training partner.
