A Midlands security company has signed a new agreement to provide UK businesses with a specialist intelligence service against the global threat of cyber-attacks.

CyberGuard Technologies, part of the OGL Computer Services Group based in the West Midlands, is partnering with Kaspersky Lab, an international cyber security and anti-virus provider.

What has been described as a unique agreement will see CyberGuard Technologies provide Kaspersky Lab’s global threat intelligence service to companies across the UK.

Paul Colwell, technical director at CyberGuard, said:

“We are delighted to have signed this agreement which is the first of its kind for a UK company.

“Kaspersky Lab’s service offers global intelligence from millions of sources using a combination of machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide actionable threat data.

“This data feed also includes intelligence produced from Kaspersky’s global research and analysis team on some of the most advanced threat actors.

“By working closely with Kaspersky, they provide us with threat data to enhance our own intelligence team, Unit 12, who gather information for our customers on cyber-attacks.

“This data is then analysed thoroughly to allow us to make fully informed strategic decisions regarding cyber-threats, so we are able to detect future attacks.

“By working with Kaspersky’s threat intelligence, we can not only help protect small to medium-sized businesses in the UK, but also large enterprise companies that may be targeted by advanced cyber-attacks.”

Kaspersky Lab is a renowned international cyber-security and anti-virus provider founded in 1997. For the last five years in a row, they have been recognised as the most tested and highly awarded vendor within the industry, protecting more than 400 million users and 270,000 organisations.

Craig Giles, a key account manager at Kaspersky Lab, said:

“OGL Computer Services has become Kaspersky’s only platinum partner in the UK, so offering our cyber threat intelligence service to CyberGuard was a great opportunity.

“This agreement between our two companies can have a real impact on CyberGuard’s customers, benefiting business directors who will gain an insight that will help them develop their own strategies against cyber-threats.

“It will also provide a more proactive, rather than reactive, approach for IT staff when defending their IT infrastructure from cyber-attacks with alerts and insights.”
