A Manchester-based legal customer acquisition specialist is aggressively seeking to grow market share, despite a widespread dip in consumer demand as a result of Covid-19.

The mmadigital group – forecast to grow to a £30m turnover organisation by 2025 – has expanded its workforce by 50% during the pandemic and invested £250,000 in technology and infrastructure to enable staff to capture and qualify more enquiries from claimants across personal injury, clinical negligence, industrial disease and contested probate.

Following a recent recruitment drive, the company has created 20 new jobs across its lead generation and contact centre teams, taking total headcount to 60 by the end of 2020. Employees will use the latest in digital marketing technology as a result of the business’ significant financial investment into mmadigital’s contact centre and marketing platforms.

Innovative features include chat bots, AI-powered speech recognition and highly customised digital engagement tools for potential claimants. The sophisticated, time-saving technology will enable the in-house marketing teams to seamlessly pass leads to contact centre staff for qualification and distribution to the agency’s growing panel of leading UK law firms.

CEO, Dez Derry, said:

“Reduced routine hospital admissions and lockdown restrictions have had a direct impact on the number of clinical negligence and personal injury claims and there’s no doubt that we’ll see another drop with the second wave of Covid-19.

“However, the requirement for these legal services remains and, as others within the market are faced with well-publicised financial struggles, we’re poised to support as many claimants as possible by giving them access to some of the country’s best law firms.”

The FCA values the UK personal injury market for lead generators at £160m and mmadigital is targeting 20% market share by 2025. The agency estimates it will handle over 400,000 claim enquiries within the next 12 months and is focused on growing the number of firms on its panel, as well its customer portfolio. Dez has also announced that he is on the acquisition trail, actively seeking other lead generation specialists that operate within mmadigital’s target sectors.

He continued:

“In our mission to become the market leader, acquisition is a very natural move. Ideal targets are those with up to £5 million turnover and strong online assets. By absorbing companies at this level into our group, we can grow quicker and support law firms in doing the same – all the while ensuring members of the public can seek the compensation they deserve.”
