Peter Scragg of EDAM Group has been named as “Apprentice of the Year” at the annual Call North West awards. Having formed part of the company’s inaugural class of apprentices, Peter was commended for his personable approach, helping him to gain a reputation as EDAM Group’s ‘go-to guy’ for IT support.

Designed to recognise the companies and individuals that excel with their customer contact services, the Call North West Award winners were announced at a black-tie event in Manchester last week. As part of EDAM Group’s apprenticeship programme, Peter Scragg received the award for how he has developed in the role since starting last year.

Working within the company’s growing IT team, Peter has become the first port of call internally, supporting colleagues with issues regarding computer security, software and access details. With a significant part of EDAM Group’s business being based on providing exceptional levels of customer service to people over the phone, it is essential that all team members are supported by the online systems and physical equipment, which is where Peter’s support has been so well received.

Known across the company’s head office in Manchester, Peter’s quick work and friendly approach has set the benchmark for future apprentices joining the team, and he has also been singled out by the apprenticeship training provider – 3AAAs – who named him as “Apprentice of the Month” earlier this year.

Peter said:

“I am very happy with my progress and how I’ve been able to develop while at the company. I’m over the moon to have received this award, and am proud to have completed my apprenticeship with EDAM Group.”

With a strong focus on internal development and giving team members an environment in which they can thrive, EDAM Group runs an extensive internal review and reward process. Peter has been one of the highest scoring team members in that process during his training.

His line manager, Brook Bracewell, added:

“Peter has really impressed everyone within the department in the way he has embraced his role. He approaches new jobs with enthusiasm to learn and is always looking to improve processes within the team and challenge the status quo.

We are proud that Peter has completed his apprenticeship, and hope he stays with us for many years to develop within the company. This award is no less than he deserves, and is hopefully the first of many in what I’m sure will be a successful career.”
