Bespoke software development company Clever Software Group has recently celebrated their 5th birthday and most successful year to date.

Based in Ringwood, Clever Software Group was founded in December 2016 by Company Director and self-taught software developer Andrew Matthews. With sixteen years’ experience already working in the software development industry, firstly as a computer programmer and then at the helm of a Bournemouth software company, Andrew set out to create a new business that crafts cleverly simple business software. Since starting as a team of two, the company is now proud to employ a sixteen strong team of expert software specialists and has a valued client base in sectors from aviation and architecture to retail and public information services.

Clever Software Group has experienced incredible growth year on year since its inception; in 2021 alone, the company doubled in size.

Company Director Andrew comments:

“I’m thrilled to have reached this milestone and that in the short space of five years we’ve achieved so much. We were really proud to emerge from last year with our most successful year to date, which is absolute testament to how our team have embraced and conquered new challenges. It’s never been more vital to be forward thinking to keep our clients ahead of the curve.”

Building long term software partnerships has always been a key focus of Clever Software Group and the company are proud to still be working with their very first two clients as well as enabling a range of leading providers to drive positive change with bespoke business software. The custom-made software projects are always exciting and varied, including everything from a Cloud based solution using IoT tech for the remote monitoring of assets, to the creation of full practice management systems.

Andrew prides his team on technical excellence and extensive skill set. Clever Software Group’s team of expert software developers undertake meticulous research to understand client’s working practices and how they can use their technical expertise to create digital solutions.

“Taking care of the difficult has been our motto for some time. I’ve always set out to create super smart software that solves business issues and creates greater efficiencies. We look after the technical aspect of developing a new business software system as well as guiding our clients through the process in a way that works for them. While we all have our own skill set, our team are united in loving the power of technology. Some of our greatest successes have been when we’ve been able to introduce real technical innovation into our client’s businesses to help them revolutionise the way they work.”

As a self-taught software developer, it’s incredibly important to Andrew to offer opportunities to those with a flair and passion for coding. Andrew comments:

“In 2018 we recruited our first Apprentices, one of whom is a significant part of our software development team today. I’m always interested to hear from budding programmers who have taught themselves to code; there’s nothing like it to really learn the art of problem solving. My first foray into computer programming came in the early 90s when computers were like gold dust and I was lucky enough at school to have a go on one of the BBC Micros, which were built by Acorn Computers for the BBC Computer Literacy Project. I’ll never forget that incredible feeling of seeing my code fix a broken tool. That fascination with the power of technology has stayed with me and grown ten-fold.”

Three office moves, one rebrand and a pandemic later, the software company has come a long way. Looking forward into 2022, the team are excited to start work with some fantastic local brands and launch some pioneering projects.

“We look forward to building on our software partnerships with our wonderful clients, working with new businesses in the local community and expanding our software team further.”
