A NEW Chief Executive Officer has been announced for leading innovative staffing app, Rota.

Stephen Segel will lead Rota as it continues to expand its technology and services to supply high quality staff to leading venues in five major cities across the UK, including Edinburgh.

Previously, Segel has led fast growth businesses from growth through to exit. Segel served in Group roles at both Blue Group and Aston Carter until sale, taking Blue Group through a turnaround to doubling EBITDA and Aston Carter where EBITDA grew 4x over 4 years and its successful sale to Allegis Inc.

Steve commented:

“I am proud to be joining Rota and look forward to the exciting challenges ahead as we work to expand our services further and continue on the great success Rota has already achieved in such a short space of time.

“In just under three years, the app has revolutionised the way the hospitality industry is staffed, taking away the frustration of relying on costly agencies and has already helped almost 700 venues find high quality service bar staff to waiters, baristas and chefs.”

“We have lots of great plans to continue Rota’s success story and I can’t wait to help lead the team to bringing these ideas to fruition.”

It currently has over 5,000 active Members and operates in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow partnering across hotels, caterers, restaurants, venues, events and stadia with the likes of Intercontinental Hotels, Compass Group, Manchester Arena, Hearts Football Club.

Rota was co-founded by Tom Williams, previously a Hotel manager, out of the frustration of relying on expensive temporary staffing agencies and managing part time staff to find a better way of working that benefited both venues and staff.

Tom commented:

“I am very excited to welcome Steve to Rota to lead the next phase. Steve brings a wealth of experience in scaling fast growth businesses and creating a culture of success for our staff, Members and Partners alike”

Mark Farmer of Eden Ventures, an Investor Director at Rota, said:

“Steve’s experience to scale fast growth businesses will be a real asset to the Rota team and we look forward to working with him to expand the brand.”

“Steve has already made a positive impact in the short time since he has joined, and we are confident of the leadership he will bring. Rota has grown from a simple idea into a multi-million-pound app which has helped thousands of Members across six cities in the UK make the most of the freedom, higher pay, and improved conditions that Rota affords them. On top of that, our Partners have access to a flexible network of highly motivated, rated and engaged staff through a platform that actually makes their lives easier.”
