The UK’s number one kitchen retailer - Wren Kitchens - is opening a transport depot this month on the outskirts of Manchester.

The four-acre transport hub will service customers on the west side of the country, complimenting Wren’s existing five depots strategically located across the UK.

This recent investment is part of Wren’s wider growth plans, with the aim of opening three more depots across the UK this year to cater for increased business and to ultimately reduce fuel costs and emissions.

With 18 vehicles running from the depot every day, around 40 jobs will be created including Class 1 and Class 2 Drivers, Porters, Yardmen and Supervisors. Positions are still available.

“We operate a complex operation, delivering over 2,000 kitchens a week to customers across the length of breadth of the UK,”

said Wren Kitchens Head of Transport Operations, Lee Holmes.

“Our logistics are at the heart of Wren’s success, and as the company continues to grow, so does the need for better connectivity to be closer to our customers across the UK to ensure we continue to deliver 99.5% on time and in full.

“We’re also focussing on reducing our impact on the environment, and with the recent investment of greener trucks and our increased presence across the UK, we will continue to reduce CO2 emissions.”

With recently winning the Operational Excellence Award at the renowned Motor Transport Awards, Wren is continually improving in all aspects of its logistics and one example includes the recent investment in new Mercedes-Benz Antos lorries.

These state-of-the-art trucks are packed full of innovative safety features, as well as the ability to support the environment by reducing fuel emissions and optimising fuel-efficiency.

Wren has a fleet of over 180 lorries which travel over 155,000 miles each week to customers’ homes across the UK from five depots located in Howden, Barton, Bristol, Stansted and Larkhall.
