The shortlisted finalists for this year's Baking Industry Awards 2023, (BIA), the baking industry Oscars were announced during the course of last week, and Northwest based artisan baker Aidan Monks, owner of Lovingly Artisan, Plumgarth's, Kendal, and Lovingly Artisan, Altrincham Market, Manchester, discovered that two of his breads had been shortlisted in two separate award categories.

The Lovingly Artisan team found out that their Danish Rugbrød has been shortlisted in the Speciality Bread Product of the Year category alongside Chia Rye by Ole & Steen and Red Rye & Ruby Malted Beer Sourdough by The Yorkshire Loaf.

Alongside that they also discovered that the bakery's Dark Chocolate Malt with Orange Bread has been shortlisted in the New Bakery Product of the Year category alongside Cube Croissant with Chocolate Crème Patisserie and Raspberry Compote by M's Bakery and Superloaf by Modern Baker.

Now The Lovingly Artisan team alongside the other shortlisted finalists will all have to wait until the black-tie awards evening at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, on Tuesday 07th November 2023, to find out who wins across each of the 14 award categories.

Commenting on his two category shortlists Aidan Monks said:

"It's a real honour to be shortlisted alongside the other finalists in this year's BIA's. The annual BIA awards are the biggest event in the baking industry calendar and provide a magnificent stage to recognise the skills and achievements of the whole industry and it's fabulous that we have been shortlisted in two award categories. Our aim as a bakery is to place quality breads made using only the finest ingredients at the heart of the family table again and show that bread when made properly can and should form part of healthy and nutritious diet."
