Irish Owned Brand, COCABLUE®, Official Drink of the Bolivian Presidential Palace says President Morales
During today’s historic first state visit to Ireland President Evo Morales of Bolivia announced at a private meeting in Dublin that COCABLUE (a 111 proof ultra-premium, high altitude coca leaf liqueur created by Irish company Babco Europe Limited) is to become the Official Drink of the Presidential Palace in La Paz, Bolivia.
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to discuss direct trade links between Bolivia and our company with the President in Dublin today. We are honoured that President Morales has requested that we supply COCABLUE as the official drink of the Presidential Palace in Bolivia," said Mark Wilson CEO of Babco Europe Ltd.
Mark Wilson further commented that,“At the 2012 UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs President Morales, a former coca leaf farmer, acknowledged that the commercialisation of coca leaf products including our alcohol brand AGWA de Bolivia brought benefits for Bolivia. Both AGWA de Bolivia and COCABLUE, which both contain the de-cocainised coca leaf, are exported to 42 countries around the world.”
ABOUT COCABLUE
COCABLUE is an ultra-premium, high altitude coca leaf liqueur made from rare, new growth Bolivian coca leaves.
Harvested once a year, at an altitude of 2,000 metres above sea level in the Andes Mountains, the coca leaves are hand selected in the freshest state possible before being transported in 200 kilo bales by armed guard to Amsterdam. Upon arrival in Amsterdam the coca leaves are immediately macerated and de-cocainised before distillation.
Every bottle of COCABLUE contains 69 grams of coca leaf extract and is distilled 5 times for a pure and powerful finish at 111 proof and 55.5% ABV.
One vintage is released every year and each bottle is recorded, signed and numbered.
The captivating Mayan blue colour is a natural by product of a truly artisinal handcrafting technique. The stunning colour is inspired by the ancient Royal Mayan Blue and the Amazonian rare blue bird of paradise.
COCABLUE was originally decanted in 2010 for Princess Maxima, who has since become Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. A second decanter was hand finished in 2011 for President Evo Morales of Bolivia. In 2012 a limited set of decanters were produced to commemorate the transition of the Mayan calendar, popularly known as "The End of the World".
