Outline plans are now ready to be unveiled for the wider regeneration of the Axis site in Birmingham city centre.

Following the public consultation for One Axis Square in October 2016, land owner LCR is now consulting on the overall site proposals for this exciting new scheme, ahead of submitting an outline planning application to Birmingham City Council in the coming weeks.

The latest plans for Axis Square, the site currently occupied by the Axis building, include updated proposals for three additional office buildings to join the one already under consideration by the council, along with car parking, access and landscaping.

The combined scheme will create a vibrant new commercial office development of a million square feet, with ground floor retail uses and a new public square, with the development vastly improving connectivity with nearby locations and creating an attractive place to work, eat and shop in the heart of the evolving city centre.

The next public exhibition will take place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel off Holliday Street on Friday 27th January, between 2pm and 7pm, and then on Saturday 28th January, between 10am and 2pm.

Further information will be on display and members of the project team will be present to discuss the plans and receive feedback as part of the public consultation.

Anybody unable to attend the events can visit an online exhibition and provide feedback digitally. A consultation website will launch on Friday 27th January to coincide with the public exhibition: www.axissquare.co.uk

A Freephone (free from landlines) is also available for any questions about the scheme: 08000 356 480.

The site is located close to Paradise Circus, Arena Central and Centenary Square, and just a few minutes walk from Grand Central and New Street Station. The proposals, being put forward by land owner LCR, will see the current building eventually being demolished, with tenants being offered space in the new offices. The development will have a focus on sustainability, colleague wellness, quality landscaping and public space making.

LCR Development Manager Nick Clough comments: “During our consultation for One Axis Square we received some excellent feedback, which has allowed us to better prepare our wider proposals and bring together some great ideas. We really look forward to consulting on these plans and improving them further before we submit an application to the council.”
