PROMOTION to technical manager at Redrow NW, in Daresbury, Cheshire, is the latest step up for Chris Dobson.

It also highlights Redrow’s commitment to developing its team from within and creating strong career paths for employees.

Chris, 36, first joined the team at Redrow in 2011 as a designer and has had several promotions over the last 10 years, becoming senior design manager in 2019 and now technical manager.

With a first-class honours degree in interior architecture and an MSc in project management, his skills and experience make him perfect for his new role.

Chris, who lives in Mold, Flintshire, with his partner, is involved in almost every project/site within the NW operating area, which includes Cheshire and parts of North Wales, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

He explained:

“My role covers all the varying project stages from initial feasibility, through planning the developments to them becoming live sites and then eventually close down and legacy.

“Reaching key milestones such as gaining a complicated planning consent, especially in relatively short timescales, is a real proud moment, as well as seeing designs from the drawing board materialise into actual development and becoming new communities.

“Whilst I’ll still be undertaking a large part of the design management, a primary focus in my new role is looking at the overall department to ensure we meet development programme dates and deliver the on-site technical requirements for the rest of the business.”

Chris is particularly involved in the development of some of Redrow’s flagship developments and more challenging strategic sites. These include a collection of new garden villages which combine significant numbers of new homes with large areas of green open space and a range of community facilities. Examples include Woodford Garden Village, near Stockport, King’s Moat Garden Village, in Cheshire, Ledsham Garden Village, in West Cheshire, and the newly launched Daresbury Garden Village, which is adjacent to Redrow NW’s regional headquarters in Daresbury, Cheshire.

“As a premium homebuilder we aspire not only to create great homes but also great places to live. This means paying particular attention to the wider development environment and creating a real sense of community,”
Chris added.

Jason Newton, Redrow NW, managing director, said:

“Chris’s career progression within the business is typical of Redrow’s approach. Nurturing talent, helping staff to develop new skills and enabling them to further their careers are key elements of our commitment to valuing people.”
