AFTER joining Anwyl Homes’ Lancashire division as a site manager just 12 months ago, Peter Giddins has taken on a new role as area construction manager.

With over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, including 14 years as a contracts manager for various volume house builders, Peter is well-placed to take on his latest management position with the aim of bringing new talent through the ranks.

He said:

“Anwyl is a fast growing company and I’m delighted to be starting a new role at the Lancashire division, which is one of the areas we are expanding in most rapidly.

“I’m looking forward to building on our success so far and using my experience to provide insight and support to my team, as well as younger recruits starting out in their careers.”

Peter, 58, from Northwich, followed in his bricklayer father’s footsteps into the industry. After leaving school he completed a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship at McLean Homes, the then housing arm of Tarmac, in his hometown of Wolverhampton.

He has since worked as a contracts manager for David Wilson Homes, Bloor Homes and, most recently, Morris Homes, before joining Anwyl in 2019.

He added:

“Despite facing a number of unprecedented challenges on-site, to comply with Covid-19 social distancing measures, as well as regular inspections by the HSE, we are experiencing a buoyant time for the housing market. Sales rates have remained high and we’re working hard to ensure we keep build levels in line.

“Our main aim is to provide the highest quality finished product for our customers and we all work together to achieve that. I want to be able to walk down the street and feel proud of every home we’ve built.”

Having worked for Anwyl for just over a year, Peter is delighted with the support he has received leading up to his promotion.

“Anwyl is a brilliant company to work for”,

he said.
“The support available is second to none and everyone is easy to talk to and approachable. Since starting last year I have always felt 100% backed up and that runs through every part of the business.”

A father of three, Peter enjoys an active lifestyle outside work, playing badminton and squash and walking with his wife Carol.

Peter will oversee construction at three of the Chorley-based division’s seven live sites across Lancashire and Merseyside; including those at St Helens, Prescot and Bowring Park, Liverpool. He will take on a fourth new development early in the new year.

Anwyl Homes Lancashire managing director John Grime said:

“Peter’s wealth of experience in the housebuilding sector has already made him an invaluable member of the team and I’m delighted he can now bring that experience to the role of area construction manager.

“This is a time of rapid growth for our Lancashire business as we look to progress our existing sites and prepare three new developments for launch before the end of the year.”
