Stourbridge’s Tom Taylor has been selected by David Wilson Homes – one of the UK’s leading housebuilders – to join the company’s 2019 apprenticeship scheme as it continues to support local construction talent.
Tom, 18, started his apprenticeship scheme earlier in the year at the David Wilson Homes Abbey Gate development in Redditch.
When explaining his motivation to apply for the David Wilson Homes apprenticeship scheme, Tom revealed the biggest driving factor behind his decision was the career opportunities that the business offers its employees.
“Since I decided to pursue a career in construction, I was looking around for a business that would give me the opportunity to progress,”
he said.
“I have heard that David Wilson Homes is a solid company to work for, and I have also read a number of testimonials showing that the company gives you the necessary tools to go from a bricklayer to a site manager if you are prepared to put the graft in.”
Tom studies a combined Level 2 bricklaying course at Stephenson College in Coalville. He aims to complete his course within 16 weeks. Thereafter he will continue as a bricklayer whilst working towards becoming a David Wilson Homes Project Manager in the future.
