Manchester/Northern Quarter-based Renaissance has appointed a senior engineer to support increased demand for its structural and civil engineering consultancy services, specifically in the heritage sector.

Mark Saville joins the firm following a six-year tenure at another Manchester-based practice.

Having graduated from the University of Salford with a First Class Masters (MEng) in 2015, Mark has consulted on a number of projects and has developed a penchant for heritage assets.

With a raft of high-end, contemporary domestic experience, Mark’s commercial work includes the design of several pedestrian bridges across the UK, numerous Blue Light developments within Derbyshire and adaptative reuse projects, including a project to convert an unoccupied and prominent Manchester building into a mixed-use development.

Mark has been recognised for his technical prowess in the past, receiving the IStructE Lancashire & Cheshire Regional Group Student Prize 2014-2015 for the University of Salford from the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Mark said:

“Culturally-significant buildings are where my passion lies and therefore renaissance is the perfect place to develop and build my skillset and stretch my experience.”

Helen Gribbon, director at Renaissance, added:

“Mark’s affinity for heritage assets is refreshing and it’s something we want to work closely with him to develop.

“He will be working closely with Terry Moran, who leads our heritage team and mentored by Kevin Gilsenan, who is one of only three Conservation Accredited Registered Engineers, CARE, operating in Manchester and we’re looking forward to integrating Mark across our wide-reaching project portfolio.”

Employing upwards of 35 people, renaissance has consulted on a wide range of prominent heritage projects across the UK, including Viadux, Ashton Old Baths, The Press and Old Saint Chads.
