Amended student accommodation proposals for former industrial site

Members of the local community are invited to view online proposals for the transformation of a brownfield industrial site in St Phillips which could create up to 298 student rooms as well as a market courtyard.

The site is located close to Temple Meads as well as within a short walking distance of the new £300m University of Bristol Temple Quarter enterprise campus.

Developer, Watkin Jones and Merrion Group have amended previous proposals for the site, by reducing storey heights and their plans include a highly sustainable development which would have improved local transport links (widen and resurface Gas Lane, new north south pedestrian route and reinstate a tunnel to Dings Park), be a car free scheme, as well as featuring the latest environmental credentials. There will also be private roof gardens, student social and workspaces, and a new public courtyard offering a diverse range of flexible retail, leisure, health and commercial space.

The proposals, along with the opportunity to provide feedback, will be available to view on www.gaslane.co.uk

The consultation is open from 9th November until 5pm Wed 24th November.
