Detailed plans for a new housing development within a new neighbourhood to the north of Yate have been drawn up.

Bellway South West has acquired a parcel of land to the north of Brimsham Park and submitted a reserved matters planning application to South Gloucestershire Council to build 247 new homes on the site.

The land forms part of a planned new neighbourhood of more than 2,000 new homes which was granted outline planning permission in 2015. A local centre, two primary schools, extra care housing, employment space and public open space are also included in the masterplan for the wider scheme.

Bellway’s plans include one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom houses, with 86 of the new homes designated as affordable housing for local people, plus play areas and three sports pitches.

Rachel Way, Sales Manager at Bellway South West, said:

“We hope our plans for this new development in Yate will be approved so we can start work delivering much-needed new housing for the local area.

“We have worked alongside the local authority to design a collection of new homes that will benefit the surrounding area and be an asset to Yate. Our plans will meet the needs of people at all stages of life, from first-time buyers and downsizers to growing families.

“The development will also bring substantial investment in the local area through the planning agreement which will provide improvements to infrastructure and facilities to benefit residents now and in the future.”
