It’s often claimed that buying a new-build home can take the stress out of moving – and this is now backed up by new research comparing the attitudes of potential new-build customers and the general public.

Housebuilder Bellway commissioned an independent survey by YouGov – and conducted a similar survey of people actively looking for a home in the West Midlands – to find out more about people’s views of new homes.

The YouGov survey results were released as part of New Homes Week (May 14-20) and show that 25 per cent of people feel the overall experience of buying a new-build home will be less stressful than buying secondhand – compared to just six per cent of people who think purchasing a previously-owned home will be less stressful.

Home-hunters surveyed by Bellway West Midlands – nearly a third of whom had previously bought brand new – have an even more positive view of the new-build buying process, with 74 per cent saying it’s less stressful than buying a previously-owned property, compared to just three per cent who favour buying secondhand.

Stephen Rose, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said:

“It’s clear that people who are actively looking for a new home with Bellway already appreciate the fact that opting for new-build can make the whole process less stressful.

“We hope the research we’ve commissioned will help spread the word to the wider public that they don’t have to put up with the hassle that’s often involved with buying an older property.

“Buying brand new means our customers can take advantage of helpful homebuyer incentives, such as Help to Buy, Part Exchange or Express Mover – and when they move in, everything is new, so there’s none of the worry or expense that comes with the prospect of repairs or renovations.

“What’s more, our dedicated sales teams are there to help at every stage of the journey and ensure everything goes smoothly.

“I would urge people to visit one of our new-build developments to find out how we can help take the stress out of moving for them.”

Bellway’s Part Exchange and Express Mover schemes, for example, can help remove the hassle involved with selling a home for those who want to move.

With Part Exchange, the housebuilder will offer a fair price for the customer’s existing home based upon an independent valuation and there are no estate agent or advertising fees to pay. There’s also no property chain, so no risk of their sale falling through.

Meanwhile, with Express Mover, Bellway will work with a recommended local agent to market the customer’s home. The customer agrees the selling price on the property and Bellway will chase the agent on a regular basis to encourage them to find a buyer as quickly as possible, as well as paying the estate agent fee.

Bellway West Midlands is building new homes across Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Shropshire and the West Midlands, with more information available at bellway.co.uk.
