Top 10 housebuilder Keepmoat, has started construction on its new housing development, Exhall Meadow, at Wilson's Lane near Coventry.

The national housebuilder will deliver 95 new homes on the land that is made up of partly brownfield to provide homes for private market sale and plots that will be sold for affordable housing in partnership with Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council.

The housebuilder gathered at the newly refreshed Exhall Meadow site this morning (Thursday 18th January) near the junction with Coventry Road in Exhall to celebrate the start of the regeneration work.

Part of the Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council's strategic housing and employment allocation, the new homes are being delivered with the council to form the adopted Borough Plan which focuses on economic, social and environmental issues and looks for ways to create cohesive and sustainable communities. The housebuilder also consulted with local residents and Councillors, and engaged in talks with the local Residents' Association.

The sustainability credentials of the development includes an area of open space with an attenuation pond at the southern end of the site and all of the new homes will include EV chargers and solar panels. The housebuilder will also provide funding to the Borough Council to improve a number of local parks, as well as sport and recreation facilities. Funding contributions will also be made to the County Council to improve local schools and deliver new cycleways and highway improvements.

Exhall Meadow will expand on the housing development currently under construction at Exhall Gardens, on School Lane, which is delivering 125 new homes and creating a thriving new community in this part of Warwickshire.

Amanda Bishop, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat, said:

"After the success of our Exhall Gardens development, we're excited to be moving forward with the planning approval for this second phase which will deliver a development with a further 95 much-needed new homes for families and local residents to build a life in this fantastic area.

"This housing project will deliver brand new homes and maisonettes to the local community, plus significant financial contributions to improve local services and facilities. Keepmoat will regenerate the land, where a portion was previously used as storage to create a new, thriving community.

A quarter of the development will be available as much needed affordable housing, while the remaining plots in the scheme will deliver new homes including two-, three- and four-bedroom properties as well as one-bedroom apartments. The first homes are expected to be complete in Spring 2024."

Cllr Richard Smith Cabinet member for Planning and Regulation at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council added:

"I am delighted to see the Exhall Meadows Development get underway. This Keepmoat brownfield regeneration scheme will deliver much needed affordable homes that will help our young families to get onto the housing ladder and will contribute important funding, supporting improvements in essential local infrastructure, making Bedworth a great place to live. I look forward to seeing the completion of the first new homes in the coming months."
