A homebuilder has chipped in to provide flowers and plants for a park in West Bromwich near its development, The Lyng, to help a local community association’s bid to enter Britain In Bloom.

The Lyng Community Association recruited local young people to clear weeds, litter-pick and plant the flowers at the small park on the corner of Turks Headway, to brighten up the area, with the ultimate aim of entering the park in the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ section of Britain In Bloom competition.
Rachel Jennings, of the Lyng Community Association, said, “We invited youngsters from the development to come and help us make the park look a bit more lush and improve our chances of entering It’s Your Neighbourhood for Britain In Bloom, and Barratt Homes very kindly contributed towards flowers for beds in the park.”
RHS Britain in Bloom is a nationwide community gardening campaign to transform cities, towns and villages. More than 1,600 groups take part in Britain In Bloom each year, focusing on community action to transform spaces.
