The commercial property giant Bruntwood has moved into its new Manchester headquarters.

Bruntwood relocated 200 staff from its City Towers HQ to five floors across both nearby York House and Trafford House.

Leading design practice TP Bennett LLP and the Penketh Group won the tender to transform the fit-out and furniture for both office spaces.

Bruntwood wanted to create a flexible, dynamic and vibrant workspace for their staff to encourage communication and collaboration.

Mark Penketh, Managing Director of the Penketh Group, which has a showroom in Booth Street, Manchester, said: “We were delighted to work with Bruntwood on their office relocation.

“Bruntwood is a forward looking company that understands that where you work can influence how you work and that the right facilities can help businesses to attract and keep talented people.

“Our cutting edge furniture solutions helped to give Bruntwood the ‘wow factor’ they were looking for and we delivered the project on budget and within a very tight eight week timeframe.”

Working with TP Bennett, the Penketh Group supplied a range of furniture solutions for impressive Meet and Greet areas, Work Café areas and multi-functional areas including Study Booths, Quiet Rooms, a Living Room, Seminar and Yoga space and Customer Lounges.

Their furniture was also used to create a games area for staff, hot desks, sit/stand workstations, alcove seating and ergonomic seating areas.

Melanie Zarins, Senior Interior Designer of TP Bennett, said: “Bruntwood wanted us to create destination spaces to encourage their staff to cross-pollinate between various floors so we created distinct spaces for their staff to work, think, relax and play.”

Craig Barratt, Head of Finance – Property Management for Bruntwood, who worked on the staff relocation, said: “Our relocation allowed us to evaluate the types of spaces we need to encourage the behaviours and the types of technologies we want to embrace.”

“We wanted to be able to work together in a more flexible and collaborative way and the designs at York House and Trafford House truly support these behaviours.”

“As a business some of our best moments have come from chance encounters and we wanted to increase the chance of this happening. It can get insular working in the same team but now we can mix up people and departments that would not normally even see each other.”

“We have had a very positive response from staff. Creating an office environment where employees can relax and have fun also makes coming to work much more enjoyable, allows us to get more from our workforce and to attract and retain the right people in the business.”
