Abbey College Manchester is delighted to announce that it will be moving into a new, state-of-the-art boarding facility from the start of the next academic year (September 2021).

Located in the cultural neighbourhood of the Northern Quarter, the purpose-built student residence, Clydesdale House, is just a ten-minute walk from the leading independent college. Students will be housed in individual en-suite rooms, with each ‘cluster’ of rooms having access to a large communal space. The students will benefit from a fully equipped kitchen, where they will be catered for on a full-board basis, and shared facilities including a seating area, television and table, for socialising activities and studying. The students also have access to free washing machines and additional communal spaces in the building.

With the safety of boarders front of mind, Clydesdale House has 24-hour on-site security, along with a highly secure door entry system and CCTV cameras. Students will have peace of mind in knowing that a houseparent is always available, and there is also protected cycle storage and an on-site maintenance team.

Abbey College Manchester students can opt to board in one of the 35 single rooms in separate ’clusters’ for boys and girls at the contemporary Clydesdale House, where the college has exclusive occupation of the top two floors of the building, with access restricted to only students and staff members.

Principal, Liz Elam, comments on the announcement,

“We are delighted to unveil our new, luxury student accommodation in the very heart of Manchester, with the move firmly consolidating our position in the city as a major, independent education provider.

“At Abbey College Manchester, we aim to provide our boarding students with facilities and care of the highest standard, enabling them to thrive in their academic studies and in the wider life of the college, while ensuring they are well equipped to meet future challenges. We believe that all boarders should be enabled to develop spiritually, culturally, morally and socially during their time at the college, something which this new, first-class, facility will help to harness and support further.”
