The move to Birmingham’s first A-rated EPC building, Bruntwood’s Cornerblock, marks a period of expansion for Ramboll

The international design, engineering and environmental consultancy Ramboll will occupy 8,055 sq ft at Bruntwood’s recently redeveloped 110,000 sq ft Cornerblock office space, in the heart of Birmingham’s Colmore Business District. Cornerblock practically completed in July following its £14 million redevelopment, and will serve as home to up to 100 Birmingham based employees who will represent Ramboll’s full range of disciplines and services.

Reflecting on the move, Mathew Riley, Managing Director at Ramboll, said:

“The Midlands region is a strategically important location in our growth plans and we are excited to have secured a space which gives us headroom for further expansion. With so many opportunities arising across Birmingham and the surrounding areas, we are pleased to be offering a strong multidisciplinary local team of engineers, scientists, project managers and consultants, working across the buildings, transport and environmental markets.”

The building boasts impressive environmental credentials, fantastic views over the city and Birmingham’s largest roof terrace.

Rob Valentine, Bruntwood’s Director for Birmingham, said:

“We are happy to welcome a company of Ramboll’s calibre on board. In the few months since practical completion, we have seen our customer community grow considerably and we continue to invest in an innovative high-quality working environment here at Cornerblock.”

Matt Davies, Managing Principal of Ramboll’s Environment & Health Practice in the UK added:

“For the past few years Ramboll and Environ have each had a busy office in Birmingham. Since the companies came together in 2014 we have eagerly awaited the opportunity to bring our teams together in one place, to strengthen our ability to meet our clients’ needs. Our Birmingham business has an excellent reputation. We are supporting clients on some keynote projects in the region, West Midlands Interchange and Paradise Circus Redevelopment to name but two. Our new office marks a significant investment in the region, and we look forward to bringing the best of Ramboll to our existing and to new clients.”

Colliers International advised Ramboll in the deal which will see the firm take a 10-year lease for 8,055 sq ft of Grade A space at Cornerblock and follows the announcement earlier this month that Ramboll has agreed a new 10-year lease on 5,277 sq ft of space at 1 Broad Gate in Leeds, also through Colliers who are advising Ramboll on their national property requirements.
