Camper Calling is a brand new music festival from the same minds that bring you the Camper Jam at Weston Park. The event intends to establish itself as the Midlands's finest family friendly, boutique music festival featuring some of the very best loved bands and emerging new music set in the opulent grounds of the Ragley Hall estate.
The festival is set in the 400 acres of parkland, woodland and gardens of Ragley Hall which is the family home of the Marquess & Marchioness of Hertford for nine generations. Designed in 1680 by Robert Hooke, Ragley is one of the earliest of England's great Palladian Houses. Surrounded by 27 acres of delightful ever-changing gardens, the parkland contains the Children's Adventure Playground, Woodland Walk, and Lakeside Picnic Area.
And you don’t need to be a camper van owner or enthusiast to enjoy the festival. Camper Calling has a relaxed atmosphere where we simply show you to your chosen area and you choose from the available space where you'd like to camp. You can camp in a tent, motorhome, caravan or camper van, it's up to you! If you come with a tent, you have the benefit of being able to camp next to your vehicle. You can also just book a day ticket if you choose.
The festival offers three fun-filled days in one of the most beautiful and breathtaking stately homes in the Midlands. Ragley Hall and the extensive Capability Brown landscaped gardens will provide a stunning backdrop for this amazing new event. The event intends to be a celebration of artists and artisans of festival and flora and of relaxation and revelry.
Shelley Bond, Events Director, said:“We'll be taking over Ragley Hall for a weekend of amazing music from over 40 amazing bands, as well as introducing you to new talent on our freshly squeezed stage. Plus with family entertainment, lakeside watersports, adventure playgrounds, loads of activities and craft workshops and some seriously tasty street food & drink, you'll be as busy or as chilled out as you choose!”
Following on from the success of the hugely popular Camper Jam, the family friendly event which is held in Weston Park, Camper Calling will offer a wide variety of entertainment, a variety of camping areas and plenty of opportunities to feast on fantastic street food. Brothers will also be serving up a wide array of flavoured ciders.
The organisers of Camper Calling have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the August bank holiday weekend is filled with a host of family friendly activities, from craft workshops to campfire tales, lake activities to children's circus shows. There will be several live music stages, craft workshops, scrumptious street food, Aüguzt Fest for the connoisseur of fine Beer with a live Oompah Band, a fun fair, and an array of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages.
The main Lakeside stage will play host to over 20 bands over the course of the weekend, providing the perfect platform for rising stars of the music scene and established acts alike to provide unmissable entertainment.
Pop favourites ABC will be rolling back the years at the festival and headline the festival on Saturday. They will perform tracks from their smash hit 1982 album The Lexicon Of Love plus some of the band’s greatest hits and tracks from new album The Lexicon Of Love II. A mere 34 years since the release of one of the landmark albums of the 80s, ABC return to the scene of their most resounding triumph.
Bursting on to the music scene in 2007, The Hoosiers debut album The Trick of Life had huge success achieving multiplatinum status. With singles Worried about Ray and Goodbye Mr A the band quickly developed a huge fan base. They remain a firm festival favourite and play on Saturday.
"DANCING IN the moonlight, everybody's feeling warm and bright, it's such a fine and natural sight..." Back in 1999 there was no getting away from Toploader's cover of the King Harvest song, which went on to eclipse the original. The band will play that and many other fan favourites when they perform on Saturday.
Friday night headliners The Magic Numbers are no strangers to festivals - it’s where they cut their teeth before landing a record deal. After finding early success with their first single Forever Lost–and the subsequentMercury Prize-nominated eponymous debut– they quickly released second album Those The Broke to critical acclaim. Camper Calling is a rare UK gig - and their headline slot on Friday night should draw one of the biggest crowds of ‘em all.
Brit pop favourites Dodgy also top the bill on Friday. The first time round, Dodgy were only together for seven years but in that time they sold over a million records worldwide, released three albums and 12 Top 40 singles, including Staying Out For The Summer, In A Room, If You’re Thinking Of Me and the Top 5 hit Good Enough, still a staple of the radio playlists. They sold out the Brixton Academy for three nights in a row and were awarded an unprecedented 90-minute Saturday evening slot on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival in 1997 just before Radiohead. The Brit pop act will release new album 'What Are We Fighting For' via Cherry Red on September 2. It follows on from 2012's 'Stand Upright in a Cool Place', which was their first LP in 11 years.
