Company celebrates 50% increase in turnover YOY

Mobius Works, the integrated services contractor, is ending 2019 on its biggest high yet, recording a turnover of £4.8m; more than doubling its 2018 total. Its projected turnover to year end in March 2020 is £7m.

The company behind the design and fit-out of many of the shipping containers in Bristol’s innovative Cargo development at Wapping Wharf, Bristol; the new Yeo Valley Cafe in London’s Kensington and The Loungers Group of cafes and hotels, has also seen huge growth internally.

Since launch in 2017 staff numbers have grown 900%, from three founders to 49 permanent employees, including 2019 hires Business Development Manager, James Barnacle; Quantity Surveyor Paul Abbott and Senior Contracts Manager, Alex Reeves.

Mobius Works has also seen great success with its apprentice scheme, encouraging and supporting a new wave of passionate, enthusiastic and motivated trainees. The scheme saw Luke Knight and Matt Jones complete their apprenticeships and qualify as electricians this year.

Lee Bignell, Founder and MD, commented;

“It’s been a fantastic year for Mobius Works with some standout projects in Bristol and beyond, none of which would be possible without the support of our brilliant team. We’re particularly proud that as we grow, we’ve been able to have even more of a positive impact on our local community, both by nurturing apprenticeship talent and by supporting important Bristol charities Empire Fighting Chance and Community of Purpose.”

This year has seen Mobius Works develop a new, modern office suite at major home improvements and interiors company, Gardiner Haskins and create Bristol’s newest co-working space, Gather Round, in Southville’s old Cigar Factory. Alongside this, the company completed £1m worth of projects for independent renovations.

Mobius Works’ clients also include Premium Country Pubs, Vintage Inns and Harvester under the operator, Mitchell & Butlers. The team completed Q3 with an award nomination for the Industry Service Award from Bristol’s prestigious Crumbs Awards, to add to its four other business accolades.

James Barnacle, Business Development Manager, said:

“It’s been an incredible year; no two days have been the same and the breadth of clients we have been honoured to work with has been second-to-none. The team feels stronger than ever and we are all looking forward to the challenges and projects that 2020 will bring.”

Mobius Works has not only worked incredibly hard for external clients but, the senior team has continued building on and maintaining wellbeing and happiness internally. The team has continued incorporating corporate social responsibility (CSR) work into its monthly activities, raising £8200 this year for Bristol charity, Empire Fighting Chance, which they will make up to £10,000 by the end of the year, as well as introducing schemes for Mental Health Awareness in the workplace, such as on-site tool box talks and engagement sessions.

2020/21 looks set to be another year of monumental growth for the business with a projected turnover of £10m. Mobius have also received a ‘Set for Growth’ grant from UWE and NatWest of £40k which they will use to invest in a new IT system, to expand their fleet and in new staff.
