Energy recruitment specialist Hydro Energy Group has expanded its UK team by hiring a new divisional manager with a ‘passion’ for the energy sector that runs in her family.

Nicole Shellard, 44, from Wiltshire, will primarily focus on placing suitable candidates in offshore ROV (remotely operated vehicles) and trenching roles for the company’s international clients.

Hydro Energy Group is one of the fastest growing energy recruitment agencies in the sector, specialising in offshore and marine, renewables and hydrographic survey markets.

Nicole arrives at the company, headquartered in the South of England, with a wealth of experience having worked for 15 years at one of the world’s largest multi-national oilfield services companies. She has supervisory experience, a good understanding of IR35 compliance, national compensation trends and key recruitment legislation including AWR, as well as handling work permit applications.

Her husband Colin, also works in the energy sector, for a multi-national offshore wind power and renewable energy company, while her two brothers, Noel and John Luck, sell electric cars.

Speaking about her appointment, Shellard said:

“Hydro Energy Group has a gained a solid reputation in the energy recruitment sector so it was a very natural fit for me.

“I’ve worked in oil and gas for 15 years so continuing into other realms of energy is natural. We can’t escape energy, in whatever guise, it’s around us everywhere we look but the desire to make energy greener is definitely a good and positive thing which I’m very passionate about.

“My husband works in the wind energy sector and my brothers sell electric cars so it’s in the blood. The experience in my previous role means I’m well versed in ROV and I also did a lot of work on different contractor and employment legislation which I hope will prove valuable. I’m really excited about joining the Hydro Energy Group team and helping to grow the business.”

Hydro Energy Group CEO Benjamin Burns said:

“Nicole is highly-experienced and has a proven track record in the energy recruitment sector. She is the consummate professional and a welcome addition to our ever-expanding team at Hydro Energy Group.”
