Stafford-based PR and content marketing agency, Edson Evers took home two of the most coveted awards at the Midlands 2019 PRCA DARE awards this month, for best Consumer Relations and Media Relations campaigns.

Edson Evers won both awards for the Calor Rural Community Fund on behalf of the UK’s leading LPG provider, Calor Gas.

Tasked with creating a campaign which positioned Calor as a brand synonymous with rural life, Edson Evers pitched the idea of the Calor Rural Community Fund – an annual scheme that offers rural communities the opportunity to nominate a project that makes a positive impact on local life, with the chance of winning a grant for the development and support of the project. Edson Evers undertook a full consumer and media relations campaign, with enviable results.

From the national coverage to micro-local news, the campaign saw 566 pieces of coverage and just shy of three million opportunities to see news of the Fund. The scheme also saw 216 community-based projects apply to receive funding and over 182,604 votes cast on the shortlisted entries.

National community action groups, such as Business in the Community, Rural England and mental health charity Mind, also got behind the campaign to give it their full support.

The initiative took a truly integrated, multi-channel approach, including viral videos, direct emailers to local councils and parishes, and PR sell-in to radio and trade media, as well as national, regional, local and hyper-local titles.

Edson Evers’ Managing Director, Grace Mcgarry, said:

“We’re extremely proud to have won both awards for the Media Relations and Consumer Relations categories. We were up against some fantastic campaigns so we are all thrilled that our results have been able to speak for themselves and all of our hard work has paid off.”

The news comes as Edson Evers has also been shortlisted for two Midlands CIPR Pride Awards, in the ‘Corporate and Business Comms Campaign’ and the ‘Low Budget Campaign’ categories.
