This month, Crewe-based communications provider Cymphony has achieved the prestigious Disability Confident Committed status for creating an inclusive working environment.

The Disability Confident scheme is an initiative that helps employers commit to attracting, recruiting and retaining people with disabilities and ensures that people with disabilities have all the opportunities available to fulfil their potential. By achieving this accreditation, Cymphony has emphasised the company’s commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity and developing an environment where all employees are treated with respect and understanding.

Tim Morris, the Managing Director of Cymphony, said,

“It’s a fantastic achievement for Cymphony to have been recognised as Disability Confident Committed. Equality, diversity and inclusion are central to everything we believe in at Cymphony. This accomplishment is a testament to all our hard work to make Cymphony an accessible and supportive place for all. It’s a key step in our journey to become one of the leading companies for people with disabilities within the communications sector.

“Many working-age adults across the UK identify as having a disability or long-term health condition. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure these people don’t feel disadvantaged. We want them to see a career with Cymphony as a natural move and to feel comfortable applying for jobs here, knowing ongoing support is in place once they start work. Their voices are valued and enrich the diversity of our team.”

Developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives, the Disability Confident scheme encourages employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people. By being accredited with the Disability Confidence status, Cymphony has committed to making a difference to disabled people by carrying out several activities ranging from providing work experience opportunities to providing full-time employment.

“Businesses that promote and work towards a better culture can only get better. Diversity sparks innovation – recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce helps ignite and sustain business growth. I would really encourage other companies to sign up to the Disability Confident scheme. It’s a unique opportunity to lead the way in your community, and you might just discover someone your business cannot do without,”

added Tim.

Since moving offices to Crewe Hall Farm in May, Cymphony has continued to expand its workforce and has taken on an additional 66 new employees focusing on customer service. Now, they’re exceeding pre-pandemic times and are experiencing their highest ever call volume from customers, with an increase of over 20% compared to the same period last year.

Following accreditation, Cymphony will continue exploring opportunities and seeking ongoing feedback from its employees to further promote inclusivity, diversity, and equality. To find out more about Cymphony’s Disability Confident status, please visit: www.cymphony.co.uk/
