One very lucky plumber in Bradley Stoke has landed himself a £10k cash prize after entering a national prize draw at his local plumber’s merchant.

Mervyn Fowler, 56, of Fowler Gas Heating & Plumbing Ltd in North Bristol, won the cash prize in Plumbase’s national competition, after entering the prize draw as he stocked up on trade supplies at the Liberty Industrial Park branch.

Mervyn was fortunate enough to beat 9,555 plumbers around the country to the highly sought after £10k cash windfall.

Plumbase’s Big Cash Bash initiative was launched in partnership with brands such as Viessmann, Fernox, Barlo, Polypipe, Roman and ThermaQ earlier this year as a way to give something back to the committed plumbing and heating engineers who frequently come to the aid of homeowners over the winter months.

Commenting on his win, Paula Fowler, who works alongside her husband at the company, says:

“We were actually away on holiday when we got the phone call telling us we had won the money. I thought it was a joke! We never win anything, so it was a lovely surprise. You couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces that day!

“We haven’t touched the winnings yet, but we’re planning on taking the company on a big day out. It’s a family business, so three of our sons work with us along with another employee, Callum Mitchell. We’re going to take them all, along with my other son, to a VIP day at Newbury Racecourse to celebrate.

“Our business has been around for about 15 years now and we’ve been buying boilers from Plumbase since the very beginning. We have a great relationship with everyone in branch - the staff there are really helpful and they deliver to us regularly. We will certainly continue to use them.”
