The manager of Europa Showfreight, which specialises in global exhibition logistics, is celebrating his 20th anniversary with the company.

Jeff Broom, who is based at Europa’s Birmingham site in Midpoint Way, Minworth, started out in the exhibition logistics industry more than 30 years ago, working for a number of companies before joining Europa in 1998.

Europa had no dedicated division for Showfreight at the time and Jeff was the only member of the team. Since then, Europa Showfreight has become a dedicated division in its own right, with its own dedicated staff and network of specialised agents.

Jeff, who is originally from Cardiff in South Wales and now lives in Rugby, said:

“Europa has grown and changed a lot over the years. There wasn’t actually a division when I joined and it was a case of taking the opportunity and running with it. The company has moved forwards and modernised a great deal since then – twenty years ago we still had fax machines and I think there was only one computer between 20 of us!”

Europa Showfreight organises the movement of exhibition goods around the world, providing a logistics package which includes full on-site handling services and on-site representation.

Jeff added:

“I’ve been lucky enough to work on exhibitions all over the world during my time at Europa. Exhibition logistics is a unique industry which requires a specific knowledge base. Way back in the eighties, I was told by my old boss that I’d either love it or hate it and that is definitely true, which is why I am still in the industry that I love with a passion.”

Jeff’s highlights include being elected to the board of the International Exhibition Logistics Association (IELA), a global industry network, where he is the only UK representative, as well as visiting events around the world including Turkey, Korea, Singapore and even Libya.

Jeff attended Europa’s Long Service Awards evening, along with twelve team members from Europa’s Dartford 1Hub facility, at Ferraris restaurant in Bexley, where they were thanked and presented with gifts by Europa’s Managing Director, Andrew Baxter.

Andrew said:

“I’m thrilled to see these valued members of the Europa team celebrating their 20 and 30-year work anniversaries with us. One of our company values at Europa is to encourage positivity and a family spirit. We believe that long term success comes to teams that work together, respect each other and value character and personality. The dedication of this group is wonderful to see and I’m very grateful for all of their hard work over the years.”

Europa Worldwide Group is a specialist road, air & sea, warehouse and Showfreight operator employing 750 people across 14 sites in the UK, as well as Hong Kong and Belgium, and with representation in 100 countries.
