Nottingham and Leicester-based Franklin Ellis Architects has promoted three of its senior team to partners.

Joe Taylor, Ben Dudley and Andy Dowding, who are based at the firm’s Nottingham office, have been promoted from associate partner to partner and will be working closely with existing partners David Franklin, Andrew Ellis and Matthew Branton.

On the promotions, Matthew Branton, managing partner, said:

“Myself and the team are incredibly proud of the calibre of work we deliver for both long-standing and new clients. The practice has evolved and grown over the years and remains agile and innovative and we are lucky to have a dedicated team.

The promotion of Andy, Joe and Ben is testament to their ongoing commitment and energy that they give to the firm and their drive to keep moving forward. By extending the partnership we are not only acknowledging talent but also strengthening the senior team to continue our excellent client service and ongoing growth.”

Andy Dowding, who has worked for the company for over 20 years, handles a range of commercial projects but with a focus on housing.

Andy said:

“My focus as a partner is to further cement our reputation for innovative design, long-standing and trust-based relationships with existing and new clients and continue to create a rewarding and enjoyable environment for our staff.

This partnership reflects the long-term commitment between Franklin Ellis Architects and myself and I look forward to working closer with the existing partners.”

Joe Taylor, who joined the firm over 18 years ago, is a well-known and active member of the property and construction industry across the East Midlands and has worked on a number of high-profile projects throughout his time with the firm.

Joe said:

“Having been with Franklin Ellis Architects for many years it is a huge part of my life and something I am proud to be a part of. Increasing the number of partners means we can have more partner involvement across all of our projects and will provide a greater scope for expansion and increased flexibility in looking for new opportunities.

Becoming a partner is a great opportunity for me to help shape the next chapter for the firm and I am looking forward to the challenges that brings.”

Ben Dudley, who joined the firm in 1996, is responsible for overseeing retail and leisure projects.

He said:

“I’m very pleased to have my contribution recognised and to be moving up with long-term colleagues who have complimentary skills, experience and expertise in a wide range of building types.

We have helped to build Franklin Ellis Architects into the award-wining firm it is today and it’s an exciting time to be part of the team.”

With a team of 40 professionals, the firm is based at the impressive Pumphouse in central Nottingham and works with an extensive portfolio of clients across the region and nationally.

Following the strengthening of the senior team, founding partner, Andrew Ellis, will be stepping down from the day-to-day running of the business in 2018 but will be on hand to support and advise the partners in their new roles.

Matthew added,

“Andrew has taken this firm from strength to strength since it was established in 1993 and has created strong, trusted and long-term relationships with our clients. Whilst he is taking a step back, he will still be very much a part of the Franklin Ellis Architects’ team for the foreseeable future and we’re pleased to have his continued support.

Franklin Ellis Architects has worked on a number of high-profile schemes including the regeneration of Castle Wharf, one of Nottingham’s prime destinations spanning 120,000 sq ft., Derby Innovation Centre (also known as the iHub), which won the Design Excellence of the Year at this year’s East Midlands Property Awards, and finally the soon to be complete £20m mixed-use development in New Walk, Leicester.
