Outlook Is Bright For Eco-Packaging Firm

Rising demand for its essential packaging solutions holds the promise of further expansion and more jobs for a growing North Lincolnshire company.

It’s an exciting time for Scunthorpe-area business Omni-Pac - which occupies two large units on the Flixborough Industrial Estate and which is now setting its sights on finding a third production unit, reasonably close to its current Second Avenue premises.

As part of its growth, the company is also keen to invest in a ninth production line, in a move that spells good news for jobseekers.

In Autumn 2020, CDL Omni-Pac and MFP united to become the Omni-Pac Group. In addition to the Flixborough operation, the group has sites in France and Germany. Together they supply customers across industries worldwide with everyday packaging solutions.

Flixborough site Production Manager Mostafa Shata said:

“We currently employ 100 staff, along with about 50 agency workers and the outlook for our Flixborough operations is excellent.

“We are currently very busy and we need to find a further site locally where we can install our ninth production line.

“We run a 24-hour operation, with people working 8-hour shifts from Mondays to Fridays and 12-hour shifts at a weekend, but we pride ourselves on offering flexible working arrangements to suit family requirements.”

At Flixborough, the workforce converts tonnes of recycled craft card and newspapers into recyclable and compostable moulded fibre products.

Typically, four million items come off the production lines every week. The lion’s share comprises treatment and care containers for the medical sector – with many products delivered directly to the NHS.

Millions of food industry containers are also made and distributed to the producers of fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, and cheese – and many shoppers may not realise they are adding Omni-Pac’s products to their supermarket trolley each week.

However, that’s not the full story. Omni-Pac has another string to its bow, thanks to its in-house expertise and its capacity to offer bespoke services.

“This means we can create a tailored solution for an existing customer, or potential new client, who may want a certain shaped container to launch a new product. Our design team can translate a client’s brief to Manufacture a product specifically tailored to their needs,”

said Mostafa.

“Once agreed, we can set-up the necessary production line and make it in the required quantities,”

he added.

Red Recruitment 24:7 Client Relationship Manager Karen Addlesee said:

“As a supplier of temporary agency staff, we have worked with Omni-Pac for a while. It is great to hear about their exciting expansion plans and we look forward to working with them as they aspire to future growth.”
