Birmingham-based supplier of ophthalmic instruments, Mainline Instruments, has appointed Jack Hawkins to strengthen its sales and marketing team.

Jack Hawkins, son of managing director Simon Hawkins, will join the team with a focus on enhancing the quality of the business’s website design, user-experience and analytics capability.

Keen to hit the ground running in his new role, Jack comments:

“Although having worked in similar insights and analytics roles before, the optical sector is a completely new industry for me and my skill set, but it’s one that I have a passion for after always being interested in the industry because of my dad. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and educating myself about all things optometry and ophthalmology. It’s going to be a steep learning curve but a challenge that I’m really excited about.

Once I’ve learnt the ropes, I can’t wait to get out and about to meet the industry face to face and continue to develop and build on the relationships that make our business the success it is today.”

Having previously worked and lived in London, Jack is keen to move back to the Midlands and using his previous experience and analytical eye, he is eager to optimise all aspects of the family business and continue to learn from his father to help Mainline Instruments achieve the next level of success.

Having recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, Mainline Instruments is set to have an exciting year ahead. Twenty years on from the company’s launch in 1997 with one supplier and a very small range of optical equipment, Mainline Instruments now has more than 20 suppliers, strong links with major international manufacturers and supplies the latest technological innovations to practices, clinics and retail outlets.
