Gregor Heating has been installing boilers for homeowners in Bristol and Bath since 1986 and is now one of the largest independent heating and plumbing firms with a BS postcode employing over 100 people with a £10 million turnover. To celebrate the significant milestone in their business journey, the Warmley based business has selected The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, as its charity of the year for 2016 and has set a target of raising £10,000 over the next 12 months.
The Grand Appeal supports sick children and babies at Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital by providing life-saving medical equipment, patient activities, arts, music and play therapy, and family accommodation. In addition to hosting a number of fundraising activities throughout the year, Gregor Heating has also pledged to donate £1 for every domestic boiler service and £5 for every domestic boiler installation they complete throughout 2016.
Founder and managing director, Steve Gregor, said; “It’s been an incredible 30 years and we felt that giving something back to the community was an excellent way to show our gratitude to everyone who’s helped us along the way. We are really proud of our track record, with staff retention rate at 90% and three of the original members of the team still working at Gregor, our friendly, quality service is what stands the business in good stead today. “We have always been supportive of the local community but this year wanted to do something a bit more special for a well-known charity that has supported people that we know.” Helen Haskell, corporate partnerships manager at The Grand Appeal, said, “It’s fantastic to have the support of such a well-established Bristol-based business for 2016. This year we are focusing on raising funds to help increase the family accommodation that The Grand Appeal provides, which is a lifeline for the families of seriously ill children and babies undergoing treatment at Bristol Children’s Hospital and St Michael’s Hospital. Every penny that Gregor Heating raises throughout the year will go towards helping even more families to stay together during what is often a very difficult time.”
As part of the celebrations, Wallace and Gromit themselves will be appearing at the Gregor Heating Big Bank Holiday Family Fun Day at Bath Racecourse on the first May Bank Holiday. Race goers will also be able to take part in a Gromit Model-Making Workshop. The family fun day is open to all and tickets can be bought online from the Bath Racecourse website.
