Manufacturer of bespoke steering systems, Pailton Engineering, is celebrating its 50-year anniversary. Pailton Engineering designs and creates world class steering systems for niche vehicle sectors, including bus and coaches, trucks, utility, off-highway and military vehicles. As a world leader in specialist vehicle manufacturing, the company is commemorating its half century of success from its engineering base in Coventry.

Growing from its manufacturing facility in the heart of the United Kingdom, Pailton Engineering’s customer base has expanded exponentially since its inception in 1969. During the past 50 years, the business has built an international network of customers, including many Blue Chip organisations

This growth has allowed the company to invest heavily in its facility and ever-expanding workforce. From humble beginnings in 1969, with a foundation of just a subcon and toolmaker, Pailton Engineering now occupies a modern 80,000 square foot factory. The site is equipped with the latest manufacturing technologies, including a new purpose-built staking rig. The newly implemented machines are part of ongoing investments to transform Pailton Engineering’s factory floor, with the company investing over £1M on Capital equipment each year.

In fact, Pailton Engineering has always invested in a host of new tools and expansions to heighten its reputation. By acquiring the steering division of Automotive Products in 1992, the company added ball joints, draglinks, tie-rods and anti-roll bars to its portfolio — a move that confirmed Pailton Engineering’s position as a world leader in steering system manufacturing.

At Pailton Engineering, investment in new technology only comes second to investing in people. Employing in excess of 150 members of staff, in addition to running several technical and craft apprenticeships, Pailton Engineering is an active advocate of growing its own talent, showing dedication to assisting in early-year STEM careers and is a proud supporter of Women in Engineering.
