EY has invested for growth in the advanced, manufacturing and mobility sector (AM&M) with its Birmingham office announced as the base for the national AM&M team.

AM&M refers to five sub-sectors; automotive, chemicals, industrial, aerospace and defence and transportation. EY has several long-standing and market leading clients in these sectors.

The national AM&M team aims to increase the business’ capabilities and focus on these sectors, which are hugely important to the UK economy, representing significant opportunities for investment and economic growth. Businesses operating across AM&M markets represent some of the UK’s biggest employers and are key technological innovators.

Managing Partner for AM&M Peter Matthews will lead the team, with a focus on building the service offer to existing clients and making the most of opportunities to expand market share, attract new clients and increase EY’s visibility in the market to win new work.

He said:

“We have a strong presence in sectors categorised by AM&M, however, this is the first time we have brought together our expertise under the one major sector grouping. The new team focuses and enhances our capabilities in these key sectors.

“As a business, we have a history of supporting businesses in traditional industrial and manufacturing sectors. This team helps focus on delivering greater levels of support to our clients in the emerging advanced manufacturing and mobility sectors, advising on opportunities for growth, on business restructuring and transaction activity.

“The last few years have been challenging for some businesses operating across AM&M sectors, with ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, including Brexit and global trade tensions creating uncertainty in the market. However, we remain confident that there are some incredible opportunities for businesses who embrace technology.”

Simon O’Neill, Office Managing Partner at EY in the Midlands, added:

“It’s an exciting time to be bringing together this sector team under the umbrella of AM&M for our clients regionally and nationally. The Midlands is at the very heart of industry when it comes to advanced manufacturing and mobility, with several world-renown businesses headquartered and operating from the region. It therefore offers the perfect base for the national team to operate from.

“Technology and innovation will play a major part in our clients’ ability to invest for the future. Operationally, the AM&M team means we are well placed to support existing and new clients as they evolve to meet the needs of a rapidly changing and often challenging market place.”
