Last month West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, visited EEF’s Technology Hub in Aston, Birmingham. He met some of the 400 apprentices trained there each year using the latest machinery and equipment found in manufacturing and engineering companies.

West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, said:

"The Technology Hub is offering much needed first-hand experience of high end engineering and manufacturing at all levels, preparing young people for the workplace and helping to open up the huge opportunities in this sector.

Creating new jobs and opportunities in the West Midlands is vital for future prosperity and giving young people the proper skills is at the heart of the solution to the skills gap."

EEF Region Director, Charlotte Horobin, said:

“The Technology Hub allows our apprentices to go into the workplace with real-life experience so they can hit the ground running. The experience gained during the apprenticeship doesn’t just mimic an engineering environment, it truly is a realistic engineering environment and enables our graduates to move into the very best highly-skilled jobs.”
