Corrugated packaging experts Ablebox celebrate their 30th birthday after three decades of designing and manufacturing corrugated cardboard packaging.

The Yeovil-based company has grown into a highly specialised design and production facility, transforming the humble cardboard box into engineered packaging solutions for both local and national clients.

Now the largest independently owned manufacturer of corrugated cardboard packaging in the South West, the company employs over 70 people, specialising in sectors as diverse as food and drink, pharmaceutical and e-commerce.

Founded in 1989 by Tony Lloyd, the company is now managed by his two sons Jack and Tom along with Sam Ainsworth, who are proud to announce the imminent launch of their new £7 million investment, 72,000 ft production facility in Henstridge. This state-of-the-art facility incorporates a high-speed, cutting-edge corrugator, which once fully operational will produce in excess of 100 million square metres of corrugated cardboard per year and create employment for a further 50 staff in the local area. The company has also made many other investments including a new technical laboratory to analyse and optimise box specification to reduce costs and carbon footprint, an effluent treatment system to treat waste water, and are the first company in the UK to order fully electric Tesla trucks.

Jack Lloyd, Ablebox’s Managing Director says:

“Our manufacturing and technical capability has developed significantly in recent years. We now employ a well-oiled team of highly skilled individuals, who working together have helped the company achieve industry leading levels of success and a significant impact on the social and economic fabric of Yeovil and the surrounding areas.”

To mark this milestone in Ablebox’s history, the company is launching a Charity of the Month initiative which will see members of staff nominate local, regional and national charities to receive a company donation each month.

“As we reached 30, we wanted to do something that would further benefit the wider community. By launching our Charity of the Month, we hope to make a difference both locally and further afield to organisations that are close to our staff’s hearts”

says Jack.

In recognition of the staff who have grown with the company, Ablebox have announced bonuses for long service employees.

“We have an absolutely fantastic team who have been a part of Ablebox’s 30-year journey. Our anniversary felt like the perfect time to give something back for their hard work, dedication and long service. We value all our staff and aspire to be an employer of choice locally.”
