Vintage Trains announces an additional train in its busy 2019 schedule, visiting the spectacular Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza on Saturday May 4th 2019.
The ever popular North Wales destination of Llandudno is again hosting its annual free to enter, May Bank Holiday weekend, Victorian Extravaganza & Transport Festival, and whilst not exactly Victorian, what better way to travel to the festival than on a steam train hauled by No: 7029 'Clun Castle'.
The train starts in the West Midlands at Dorridge Station at c08.30 and picks up at Solihull and Tyseley Main Line platform. An additional stop is made at Wolverhampton but only for non-dining passengers due to the length of the journey.
Vintage Trains offers a First Class dining option on the train including a full English breakfast outbound and a silver service, four-course dinner, with wine selection from Tanners of Shrewsbury, on the return journey.
With four hours at the destination, there is time to explore the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza & Transport Festival which offers a fun packed day for all the family.
Free bus rides take you to and from Bodafon Fields where visitors can view a huge selection of exhibits such as motor cycles, cars, buses and trucks of all ages. In the town centre, steam engines, early traditional steam powered organs and carousels can be inspected and rides taken. Whether you are an enthusiast or just have a casual interest, the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza gives you the chance to step back in time to see, hear, smell and experience the Victorian era.
Steam Hauled to Llandudno by No. 7029 ‘Clun Castle’, the train will be part diesel-hauled between Llandudno to Chester on the return journey. Clun Castle will remain in the platform for the duration of its stay in Llandudno for viewing by all Festival visitors. Should passengers wish to explore the North Wales coast by train, it will also be possible to alight and re-join the train at Llandudno Junction.
Parking is available at Dorridge and Solihull stations and for Tyseley passengers, parking will be available at Tyseley Locomotive Works on Warwick Road, a short walk from Tyseley station.
