Gloucestershire foodie haven the Puesdown Inn has been sold following a confidential deal brokered by Colliers International.

Dating from 1236, the inn, which occupies a prominent position on the A40 Burford to Cheltenham Road near Compton Abdale, was sold off an asking price of £550,000.

Peter Brunt, a director in Colliers International’s Hotels Agency team, said: “The market responded well to the opportunity with competitive offers made to secure the property.

“The confidential purchaser was attracted by the three letting rooms and the fact it sits on a very large site so there is plenty of scope to take the business forward.”

Thought to have been built as a staging post on a key route to London, the Puesdown Inn is within an easy drive of main Cotswolds visitor attractions including Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Cirencester.

Peter Brunt said: “Our clients bought the Puesdown Inn back in 2012 and set about improving the rather dilapidated living quarters and creating an interesting café, bar and restaurant with shop trading as Garniche at the Puesdown.

“The inn is next to the busy A40 which guarantees lots of trade all year round and the particularly spacious owners’ accommodation offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room/office and separate lounge and kitchen.”

“As it has been comparatively lightly traded, the Puesdown Inn offers considerable scope to expand operations.”

Vendor Paul Sutton said: “Peter completed the sale at a price that was above the asking level. I would not hesitate to recommend Peter to other vendors.”
