Popular middle-eastern inspired eatery, Maray Restaurants, has received a £120k loan from MSIF to expand to their new dockside site.

After opening their first premises on Bold St in 2014, Maray has attracted a cult following across the Liverpool region with the goal of becoming the best casual dining restaurant in the city.

Now with restaurants in Allerton, Liverpool City Centre and the Albert Dock, Maray operates as an independent restaurant group, serving small plates inspired by the flavours of the Middle East, in addition to providing elegant and fun cocktails.

With the help of a dynamic and vibrant offering [including their speciality ‘Disco Cauliflower’], Maray has been successful in growing their follower base year-on-year. Their unique and uncompromising approach to quality has resulted not only in an increasing number of customers but an impressive audience on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – with 19.7k followers to date.

Maray now stands as one of the go-to eateries in Liverpool and, one of the most ’instagramable’ venues in town; capturing the attention of many publications such as The Guardian, Independent Liverpool, The Guide Liverpool and Echo News. Maray have also featured in the Good Food Guide for the past three editions and are one of only 9 restaurants in Liverpool in the 2020 edition.

To keep up with the growing demand, and to capitalise on the popularity of their Middle Eastern inspired cuisine, Maray founders; James Bates, Dominic Jones and Thomas White approached Jim Moore [MSIF Investment Manager] to acquire funding for the expansion into the new Albert Dock site.

By working closely with MSIF, Maray were able to secure the £120k of funding needed to fit out their dockside site. Maray has since opened the doors to the new Albert Dock premises and is off to a strong start with 10,000 customers served since they launched on 8th July this year.

Jim Moore of MSIF said;

“It has been a pleasure to work with the team from Maray. They have a great passion for what they do and this is reflected in the success of their existing restaurants. I look forward to seeing what they will achieve over the coming months.”

James Bates, Managing Director and Founder of Maray Restaurants also commented;

“MSIF were a pleasure to deal with from the off. This is the first time we have funded through debt - Jim was thorough in explaining everything and helped us through the application process making it (relatively!) pain free.”
