KENDAL COMES CALLING NEXT YEAR FROM 1 - 4 AUGUST 2024

Following a phenomenal 2023, Kendal Calling has this week received multiple nominations for the UK Festival Awards and LIVE Awards, in recognition for a sell-out smash and continued work putting on the North West's finest music festival brimming with a truly special sense of community spirit and a phenomenal, expansive line-up which included Nile Rodgers + CHIC, Blossoms, Kasabian and Royal Blood. Held in Lowther Deer Park in the heart of the Lake District, Kendal Calling 2023 was described by Absolute Radio as "triumphant" with The Manc calling Kendal "really, REALLY good" and now, further recognition comes as awards season approaches.

The UK Festival Awards take place on 5th December - the UK's only fully festival focused awards is back for its 18th edition and with a return to the North West. Kendal Calling has received not one, but two shortlist nominations following deliberation by both judges and the public. It's a real contender in the Best Medium Sized Festival category, as well as Best Marketing Campaign, where Kendal's industry-leading sustainability work receives a nod for its Leave Nothing But Memories drive. The LIVE Awards recognise excellence in the field (and in venues) and Kendal Calling is proud to have been shortlisted in the Festival of the Year category! The awards take place on 12th December in London.

This year, over four days, forty thousand festival goers gathered in the fields. It was yet another unforgettable Kendal Calling, and its biggest edition yet as the festival rose up to become the county's third largest town. Selling out for the 17th consecutive year, Kendal Calling returned home to its sprawling site at Lowther Deer Park, for the ultimate festival gathering with the finest festival community. There was something in the air this year at Lowther, a real sense of community. Frank Turner joining Lottery Winners, KT Tunstall teaming up with Rick Astley and Rick himself even jumping on percussion for a roaring performance of ‘Charlemagne' with Blossoms – the camaraderie stretched from the audience to the artists. With pop up performances, late night explorations and a secret set or four, 2023 felt truly special. Whether the weekend was spent enjoying a brew in Tim Peaks Diner, wandering the woodlands of Lost Eden or bouncing around down the front of the main stage – it was a sensational Kendal Calling filled with otherworldly entertainment and escapism designed to intrigue, surprise and entertain all ages.

Here are just a few reminders from the artists who graced the Kendal Calling stage this year, of just how special the festival truly is…
