Independent drinks manufacturer and distributor Halewood Wines & Spirits has agreed a 20-year lease for 7,800 sq ft at 52-54 Castle Street in Liverpool.

The three-storey building will be transformed in to a £1 million development for one of its brands, Liverpool Gin. The new distillery, complete with two bars, a Gin Lab and a Bartender School will open towards the end of 2018 and create 20 jobs.

The deal was secured by Hitchcock Wright & Partners on behalf of landlord Cityscapes Ltd.

The grade II listed period building was originally constructed as two separate properties and is within the Castle Street conservation area. Planning consent was obtained for change of use to A3 Restaurant in 2017.

Located at the heart of Liverpool’s Commercial District, the property is central to the city’s business hub and the world class retail offerings of Liverpool ONE and the long established and successful retail centres of Lord Street and Church Street.

The immediate vicinity has an excellent and diverse mix of restaurants and bars.

John Barker, partner at Hitchcock Wright & Partners, says:

“We are delighted to secure this deal with Halewood Wines & Spirits and introduce this exciting new distillery to Liverpool city centre. Castle Street is a thriving food and drink destination and a great fit for Liverpool Gin– a brand which is already well established in the city.”

Lee Tayburn, Operations Director, Halewood Wines & Spirits adds:

“Liverpool Gin is one the city’s most well-loved premium brands and the new distillery, right in the heart of Liverpool’s bustling food and drink hub, will provide an accessible interactive experience which will appeal to both locals and visitors alike.”
