Manchester’s thriving hospitality scene – with numerous new bar and restaurant openings each week – are proving good news for furniture firm Ikon, based on the city’s Bridge Street.

Demand is such that the company has been able to secure an exclusive new international contract with Parla Design, based in Turkey, with Ikon now Parla’s exclusive UK distributor.

The new contract is already paying off – with Ikon supplying the furniture for Manchester’s new pop up bar the Garage, which has a funky car-themed interior.

The bar chairs and tables, top floor sofas and chairs in the Garage are all made by Parla and supplied by Ikon. The rest of the furniture and lighting for the Garage was designed and made by Ikon, including a striking yellow booth under the stairs.

Other Manchester commissions include providing furniture for Luck Lust Liquor and Burn in the northern quarter and Pesto Deli, which has stores in Bramhall and Stockport.

Ikon Director Kevin Rawcliffe says: "There’s no doubt that we’re feeling the benefits of being part of the northern powerhouse and that Manchester’s thriving hospitality scene is benefiting suppliers like us. A prestigious company like Parla would not partner exclusively with us if they did not know we had a strong order book for 2017 and beyond.

“We’re growing rapidly – just this year appointing three new staff, and it’s great to know we have so many exciting projects coming up which our creative team are looking forward to working on.”

Parla’s Paul Wise adds: "We are proud to have Ikon as the exclusive UK distributor of our furniture. We can't wait to see our furniture being part of Ikon's next projects both in Manchester and across the UK.”

Looking ahead, Ikon will be supplying most of the furniture for Manchester Hall, the refurbished iconic former Freemasons’ Hall on Bridge Street, which will have a phased opening throughout 2017.
