Delifonseca has picked up the accolade for ‘Restaurant of The Year’ at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2019.

The established foodie mecca fought off tough competition to win the coveted title at a glittering ceremony at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

The multi-award-winning eatery has previously been recognised in these awards for its culinary excellence having won in the ‘Taste’ category a number of times.

Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said:

“Being recognised as ‘Restaurant of the Year’ is a fantastic achievement for the entire team at Delifonseca especially as the quality of the shortlist was so strong. It’s an honour to be recognised alongside some of the region’s very best tourism businesses and the event itself was a wonderful celebration of everything that this vibrant city has to offer.

“We care about Liverpool and that’s why we’ve always remained true to our roots. We use a large number of local suppliers and like to think that we contribute to the region by helping to enhance its reputation as destination for visitors through good food. Our selection of local produce, which is used in our kitchens and lines the shelves of our food hall, also serves as a reminder to residents that we have some fantastic independents delivering great quality right on our doorstep.”

In a bid to support Liverpool’s thriving food and drink scene, Delifonseca will launch a new site extension at Dockside this year which will see the start of a new chapter for the venue as it looks to train and nurture the North West’s upcoming hospitality stars.

Candice added:

“It really is an honour to still receive national and regional recognition over a decade after we first established, and it only motivates us to achieve more in the future. As a business we have evolved over the years and we’re fortunate that the entire team has a shared love of food and a passion for customer service, which makes all the difference! Our new facilities will enable us to train the next generation of chefs, waitstaff and bartenders to keep the city on top of its game when it comes to hospitality.

“The restaurant scene across the UK does have its struggles, especially as we’re in a time of such economic uncertainty, which makes it all the more rewarding that we’re in a position to grow. We’re looking forward to embarking on the next stage of our journey, marked by the opening of our new space later this summer.”
