The former St Christopher’s school will be used to administer Covid-19 booster vaccinations to the Bristol community as Omicron outbreak stretches local services

Whiteladies Medical Group is running a Covid-19 booster vaccination clinic at the St Christopher’s site in Westbury Park, in light of the urgent need to deliver booster vaccinations to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant.

The vaccine roll-out in St Christopher’s began before Christmas, and is set to restart on Saturday 15th January. The clinic will be offering the Pfizer Covid Vaccination for booster doses.

Between 31 December 2021 and 6 January 2022, 7,917 people had a positive Covid test result in Bristol, increasing by 12.9% compared to the previous 7 days. Last week two of Bristol’s major hospitals declared a critical incident – the highest level of alert and will have to start drafting in extra support from neighbouring NHS trusts as cases continue to soar.

Both registered and unregistered patients are able to book a booster at the St Christopher’s site online:https://my.drdoctor.co.uk/clinic/StChristophers, so long as it has been three months since the second Covid vaccination.

Dr Lee Salkeld, Partner at Whiteladies Health Centre who is overseeing the roll-out at St Christopher’s said:

“The clinic has run really smoothly and we have vaccinated quite a number of members of the local community already. It’s so important that people who have yet to receive their booster vaccination come forward so we can manage the spread of Omicron.”

The St Christopher’s site was acquired earlier this year by ethical investor and B Corporation FORE Partnership in partnership with later living operator Amicala. Together with development manager Socius, the partners are bringing forward an extra care development to the site, a form of later living that supports residents to age in place, easing strains on the NHS and social care sector.

The partners recently launched a public consultation with the local community to understand residents’ feedback on the development plans, which will run until 19th January 2022.

Lucinda Mitchell, Project Director at Socius, said:

“We are pleased to be able to offer our support with the vaccination roll-out and help facilitate the Covid booster programme at our St Christopher’s site in Westbury Park. The Whiteladies Medical Group has done an excellent job in getting this organised so quickly, and we are delighted to see the site play an important part in keeping the local community safe.”
