A new doctors’ surgery being built as part of the Hanborough Gate housing development is set to enhance the provision of primary care.

The purpose-built facility will be three times larger than the existing Long Hanborough medical practice it will eventually replace, and will provide additional consulting rooms, minor operation rooms and a series of modern amenities.

Hanborough Gate is a development by Pye Homes in partnership with Blenheim Estate Homes and features a selection of two, three and four bedroom homes to the western side of the village. A total of 169 homes will be built by the end 2021.

The new surgery, which is being built as part of a Section 106 agreement between the developers and local authorities, is due to open in the summer of 2020 and has been welcomed by doctors from the existing practice.

“There has been a huge collaborative effort between Pye Homes, the Blenheim Estate, and the medical practice, with the support of Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, and the outcome is to be a brand new purpose built facility to enhance the provision of primary care for our rapidly growing population over the years to come,” said Dr Neil Rust from the Long Hanborough Surgery.

“The new building will allow us to use more medical and allied staff to ensure we continue to deliver the best care closer to home for our population,”

he added.

In addition to the new medical practice developers are also making significant contributions to primary and secondary education, the library, local public transport, and to sport and recreational uses.

“As a family-run business which has been part of the local community for more than 90 years we appreciate local sensitivities and requirements better than most,”

said Pye Homes MD Graham Flint.

“Building high quality, future-proofed developments which integrate with their surroundings and improve the overall quality of life is a key part of our success and we understand the importance of creating thriving communities with essential amenities,”

he added.

Hanborough Gate’s location on the edge of Long Hanborough village and just five miles from Witney and Woodstock makes it part of a wider local community with Blenheim Palace itself nearby.

Blenheim Estate is also supporting the development by opening up a new network of permissive footpaths to provide access to the surrounding landscape and countryside.

Formed in 1927 and based in Oxford, Pye Homes has built up a wealth of experience with successful developments in many counties including Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and West Sussex.
