A loyal employee, who progressed from Mobile Dispensing Optician to Clinical Lead, has celebrated 40 years with family owned business Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care.

Mike Cheeseman was congratulated on the milestone and thanked for his service by Scrivens' Operations Director Adrian Ellis and Professional Services Director Jeet Saimbi at Scrivens House, at its Edgbaston headquarters.

Mike's career at Scrivens began in 1983, as a Mobile Dispensing Optician, having qualified in 1977. This position involved supporting Scrivens' branch teams nationwide and, in between, he also took on the role of Branch Manager at various Birmingham branches.

In 1998, Mike moved into a training role then in 2013 brought three decades of Scrivens experience into his current role as Clinical Lead, based in Edgbaston. He now supports branches nationwide in delivering Scrivens' expert eye care services.

Reflecting on his milestone at Scrivens, Mike said:

"I am incredibly proud to have reached my 40-year anniversary and have played a part in Scrivens' continued success – I'm just not sure where the time had gone!

"When I joined Scrivens, I never dreamed of being in the position I am now and grateful for the opportunities I've been given to progress my career. The business has grown from 34 branches when I started in 1983 to 169 at present, and the strong family ethos of the company which drew me to it initially remains today.

"During my time in optics, I have seen countless technological advances. The range of services we're able to provide to patients has evolved so much, allowing us to improve our customers' lives by delivering the very best in optical care."
