A Bristol-based sports and performance gym has opened a new studio in the city with the support of a £70,000 finance package from HSBC UK.

Sweat Box Gym, which first opened in Bristol in 2006, has used HSBC UK funding to relocate to a larger studio in Bedminster, and refurbish the new premises. Eight personal training roles have been created as a result of the move.

The new 15,000 sq. ft. premises, which is triple the size of its old site in Bedminster, offers state-of-the-art boxing and jiu-jitsu areas, as well as training spaces for wrestling and Thai kickboxing. The funding has also enabled the gym to expand its offering with a new fitness area, which includes over 60 weight training and cardio machines.

John Conway, Managing Director at Sweat Box Gym commented:

“We’re delighted with the new studio, which enables us to appeal to a broader range of customers, while maintaining our specialism in mixed martial arts. Our HSBC UK Relationship Manager, Myles Deacon, has been incredibly supportive of our ambitious expansion plans and made the process incredibly smooth.”

David Butler, HSBC UK’s Area Director for Bristol, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, commented:

“This is an incredibly exciting time for John and the rest of the team at Sweat Box Gym, who have worked hard to establish themselves as a leading martial arts gym in Bristol. We’re delighted to have supported the business for the last seven years and wish them the best of luck with the new studio.”

Sweat Box Gym offers 56 classes each week, for a range of abilities across five disciplines, including mixed martial arts, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Thai kickboxing and wrestling. For more information visit: https://www.sbfitness.uk.com/.
