The Alexandra, is the flagship hospital for BMI Healthcare, and is proud to have a private Oncology centre that now offers emotional support and counselling services to all cancer patients and their families. This is made possible by the hospital’s relationship and partnership with the Beechwood Cancer Care Centre in Stockport.
At The Alexandra, the Oncology Centre has been designed with the specific needs of the patient in mind. The centre offers private en-suite bedrooms, individual chemotherapy rooms and a comfortable coffee lounge, where patients are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team of consultant oncologists and medical professionals. A cancer diagnosis can have a huge impact on a patient and as a result, The Alexandra has created a safe and secure environment for patients, with access to support groups and counselling services from Beechwood Cancer Care.
Marge Falconer, Executive Director, at BMI The Alexandra Hospital, stated: ‘I am so proud of our private Oncology Centre at The Alexandra. Our nursing team and specialist consultants understand how cancer can affect a patient’s life and our relationship with Beechwood Cancer Care
ensures our patients and their families, receive emotional support during treatment and after. The centre also provides information, training and personal support for our own staff teams working in end of life care. We are very grateful.’
Linda Steggles, Chief Executive at Beechwood Cancer Care, explained: ‘At Beechwood Cancer Care we offer support to those living with cancer and other life limiting illnesses, as well as their relatives and carers. The Alexandra has supported our charity for some time, and as a result we are able to offer counselling services and support programmes to their patients, families and staff. It is a fantastic partnership. ’
